Hi, I'm Jen.

And I’m the manager and owner of Doulas of Melbourne’s East.

I’m a loud music listening, tea drinking, science nerdy, artistic, knowledge sponge.

I’ve been a birth Doula now for over 10 years and with my training, my experience, and the birth of my 6 kids have gained a vast array of birth smarts, both physical and mental tools that I can’t wait to share with you.

I’ve worked with families at all the local hospitals and keep up to date with the changing policies (which change quite frequently during this whole covid debacle), I have worked with a lot of homebirth families too.

Doulas of Melbourne’s East is plural because Jen always has a reliable back up Doula in place in case of extreme exhaustion, positive Covid test or spontaneous combustion.

Why am I a Doula?

I became a Doula because I felt there needed to be a bridge between policy and choice, a voice for the unassuming, a barrier to birth trauma, a guardian of the perineum so to speak.

Whilst I love babies, it’s not about that to me, it’s about the families and their right to come out the other side beaming with joy and love and oxytocin.. the way birth was designed to be.

Birth should be the most incredible life altering experience that you will ever experience, and I am here to help you achieve that goal.

Why work with me?

I’m different.

I’m not the Doula that waves incense and bangs drums (although I CAN if you want).

I am here with YOU.

I know what the local hospitals do, ask of you, or suggest at every appointment.. I’ve been there, often. I know… I feel you. You should hire me because I am you, like future you but with that information that you wish had.
I have so much “I know” that you need.. and books.. and stuffs.. that honestly all you’ll need is to breathe and you’ll have a baby.

But I can show you how to do that, all you need to do is meet with me for coffee.

Client Reviews

I highly recommend Jen’s services. I was fearful about my birth until I met Jen. She showed me that the birthing experience is natural, calming and beautiful. Her support during birthing was excellent, from foot massage, relaxing music, position advice and calming words. I look forward to my next birth experience with Jen!

From the minute I met Jen I knew I had made the right choice. Having never used a Doula, I wasn’t sure what was involved but Jen was so supportive and helped me overcome the fear and anxiety I had from my first birth, which had a lot of intervention. Without her care and support I would not have been able to have the wonderful birth experience that I had this time around. Being a Doula comes natural to Jen and I recommend her to everyone.
